Crystal Roman

Crystal is a financial analyst at Afton Partners and a fellow in the 2023 Education Finance Analyst Program. She has a strong passion for education and brings valuable insights to her role, helping shape critical decisions that promote school sustainability.

At Afton, Crystal supports school leaders by:

  • Researching state and local charter funding policies to help better inform leaders,
  • Creating financial projection models that client partners can utilize to make informed strategic decisions for their schools, and
  • Conducting financial capacity assessments to help a growing charter network identify key growth areas and develop strategies for sustainable advancement.

Before joining Afton, Crystal spent four years at Uncommon Schools as part of school operations, where she honed her skills in project leadership and operational efficiency. Her experience in the education sector fuels her commitment to driving positive outcomes for students and educators alike.

Crystal graduated from Mount Holyoke College, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and a minor in Latina/o studies. While at Mount Holyoke, Crystal served as a Community Fellow, working on community organizing, education, college access, youth development, and environmental, social, and economic justice projects among Western Massachusetts Latino communities.
