Engagement & Facilitation

We believe solutions are found in the communities in which we work. We create the spaces to uncover and uplift them.

At Afton, we collaborate inclusively and put people at the center of our work. Through our engagement and facilitation services, we bring forward real solutions for real people, supporting the development of productive relationships along the way.

We support engagement across the entire life cycle of change management processes, from ideation through implementation, and toward sustained community partnership. We seek to understand the problems communities are facing through intentional listening, and we build trust by valuing the lived experiences of individuals and families. When we center a common goal of improving outcomes for children and families, especially those who have been historically underserved, we can build a problem-solving and solution-development process that all constituents can find relevant and meaningful.

In moments of change, community advisory bodies can be incredibly beneficial, and Afton has deep expertise in facilitating these stakeholder groups – from ad hoc workgroups to task forces to legislative commissions. Facilitated well, advisory bodies build a shared understanding of challenges, provide input and feedback through the design process, surface potential risks and opportunities, and support overall plan development as champion voices. With our advisory groups, we anchor on goals, guiding principles, and value propositions that lead to viable options and meaningful solutions. We think strategically and collaboratively, creating solutions with both the near- and long-term in mind, and with a focus on implementation and the change management necessary to achieve success.
