We apply systems-level thinking, thoughtful research, and sophisticated analyses to tackle seemingly intractable problems. Approaching each challenge with an open and inquisitive mindset, informed by an understanding of the evidence base, we collect quantitative and qualitative data and conduct analyses to discover core truths. Armed with that insight, we help our clients and their stakeholders craft plans and tell their stories.

Our team employs primary and secondary research to support our partners in solving complex challenges in their communities. We begin by reviewing relevant findings from the field. We learn from rigorous, scientific research as well as peer communities that have implemented similar practices and policies. While findings may not be generalizable to all contexts, they provide us with a starting point to which we add local expertise, engagement, and analysis. From there we can develop recommendations and solutions that best meet the needs of our partners and those most impacted in their communities.

The Afton analytics team has rich experience in quantitative and qualitative analytics in the public sector and is well-versed in applying sophisticated analytical tools to make data meaningful and approachable. We take a two-pronged approach to developing a clear fact base: 1) comprehensive quantitative data collection across many data sources and 2) qualitative data collection through survey administration, focus groups, and interviews. We dig deeper, ask tough questions, and focus relentlessly on ensuring our data is truly representative of those most historically underserved.
