He/Him

Jason Nowlin

Analyst; Chicago, IL

Jason brings a passion for public service and a robust analytical background to Afton, where he collaborates on projects to strengthen public education and drive equitable resource allocation by supporting charter school operators, school districts, and state education agencies.

Some of Jason’s current and past work includes:

  • Conducting district-wide data analysis to support student enrollment efforts,
  • Working closely with city agencies to address the diverse needs of immigrant and refugee students, and
  • Supporting charter school networks with building multi-year, multi-school financial models, identifying key areas of growth and strategies for sustainable progress.

Before joining Afton, Jason worked in both education and public policy. His experience as a public school teacher in San Antonio gave him firsthand insights into the importance of resource allocation and data-driven decision-making in education. His favorite parts of teaching were building a space where all felt welcome, and empowering students to take on leadership roles and pursue their interests in everything from science to music.

Jason holds a BBA in finance from Texas A&M University and an MPP from the University of Chicago, specializing in municipal finance and market regulation. In addition to his professional work, Jason is committed to leadership development. He has served as the president of Texas A&M’s chapter of the Association of Latino Professionals for America (ALPFA), where he expanded mentorship programs for first-generation college students.
