School Finance
Managing Director – School Finance. This position will co-lead Afton’s growing public charter school finance practice and be a member of our company’s senior leadership team. The position requires prior, extensive experience as a Chief Financial Officer of a multi-school charter organization. The position will be responsible for overseeing client service, cultivating our charter finance team, bringing in new business, and advancing best practice across the field. The role requires prior experience as a Chief Financial Officer or Director of Finance of a multi-school charter network. The job is remote, and anticipated salary is $115,000 – $135,000. Senior Associate – School Financial Planning & Analysis. This position will support Afton’s public charter school finance practice with a keen focus on financial projection modeling and fiscal data analysis. The position will engage in consulting projects with public charter schools of all sizes, with the goal of strengthening our clients’ capacity to achieve and maintain long-term financial sustainability. Contractor – Financial Projection Modeling. This role will support our full-time, school finance experts who are serving dozens of charter school and school districts across the country. The role is primarily responsible for developing multi-year financial projection models and fiscal data analysis. While Afton has prioritized investment in full time staff since its founding days in 2011, from time to time, we leverage contractors to supplement our core team. Early Care & Education
Director – Early Care & Education. This position will support expansion of Afton’s ECE practice designing equitable and sustainable policies, programs, and systems that support young children and their families and promote the development of a healthy ECE system. The ECE Director works within Afton’s growing ECE practice, leading client engagements with state and local agencies and other impact-focused organizations on strategic initiatives such as but not limited to strategic planning, advisory body facilitation, stakeholder engagement initiatives, needs assessments, literature reviews, slot gap analyses, funding equity and adequacy studies, and workforce compensation studies. He/she/they will work independently and/or oversee teams to design thoughtful approaches to achieving project goals; conducting thorough qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis; determining how to effectively communicate findings to various audiences; and developing guidance and solutions to client challenges – all in service of helping our public sector clients reach their strategic goals for the constituents they serve. Sr. Associate – Early Care & Education (ECE) Data & Analysis. This position supports state- and local-level funding, governance, and other strategic initiatives in Early Care & Education, with a goal of creating equitable and sustainable policies, programs, and systems. He/she/they can expect to complete work included but not limited to: fiscal maps, equity studies, capacity analysis, cost modeling initiatives, workforce compensation studies, program and/or system budgeting, and financial planning. Daily work may include but is not limited to developing robust financial analyses, cost models, and other analytical tools; conducting thorough and thoughtful research; making meaning of quantitative and qualitative data to inform studies and analyses; determining how to effectively communicate findings to various audiences; and working with teams to develop thoughtful guidance and solutions to client challenges. Early Care & Education (ECE) Policy Associate. This position supports Afton’s consulting engagement with state and local agencies and other impact-focused organizations seeking to design equitable and sustainable policies, programs, and systems that support young children and their families and promote the development of a healthy ECE system. The Associate will work under the direction of project leads to complete tasks aligned to overall project approach and deliverables, such as: conducting independent research and literature reviews; designing and leading stakeholder engagement activities such as focus groups, interviews, and/or surveys; collecting, organizing, and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data; planning for and supporting the management of advisory group meetings and convenings; monitoring policy and law changes and assessing implications for current and potential clients; maintaining project management structures; and other related work. He/she/they will work independently and/or in collaboration with teams to support development of guidance and solutions to client challenges.
