Lindsay Shanahan

Lindsay’s work focuses on developing equitable systems, policies and practices to ensure all students have access to a high-quality education. She utilizes research and data to better understand the unique needs of students and schools while collaborating with school, district, state and community leaders to support policies and practices that reflect their community’s unique local context.
Lindsay’s recent impact includes:
- Supporting the overall project management, progress updates, materials development, community engagement and final reports for an innovative funding adequacy study, a large-scale funding policy recalibration project, a state fiscal scan and staffing initiative, and a district-wide grade span reconfiguration.
- Leading the interview and engagement process for school and district leadership across various projects to better understand the current state of their district’s funding, what is going well, and what is challenging.
- Supporting various project recommendations and considerations by incorporating findings and best practices from relevant evidence-based research.
Previously, as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Providence Public Schools, Lindsay supported the implementation of the District’s Turnaround Action Plan focused on the transformation of school and District processes in service of accelerated student achievement. Prior to her role at Providence Public Schools, Lindsay worked as a Senior Education Associate at the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab. She supported the development and operations of master’s programs at MIT in data, economics, and development policy. She has also worked as a Research Assistant exploring the educational outcomes of students who submitted their college applications with the Common App. Lindsay has her master’s degree in urban education policy from Brown University and her bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Massachusetts–Amherst.
