Mitch joined Afton as an Analyst in November 2012. Since joining, he has worked with clients across the country on 35+ engagements, providing a wide variety of services: working on-site to help launch an innovative charter start-up; developing dynamic projection models to help quantify the fiscal impact of various operating scenarios; helping to create and apply grant application criteria and tools to asses long-term operating risks and opportunities of potential grantees; serving at a charter management organization in an interim budget director capacity; and providing customized technical supports to school and district grant team finalists.
Before joining the firm, Mitch was a senior financial analyst at Allstate Insurance Co., supporting Encompass Insurance, a property and casualty insurance subsidiary, on its finance and strategy team. While there, he provided financial advice, modeling, and consulting support to state managers in the southeast region of the United States.
Mitch earned his BS in Finance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign’s College of Business in May 2011. While in school, Mitch served as fundraising chair for Illinois Microfinance Brigades, worked as a community program leader for a special needs recreation program, and completed an internship in the corporate cash management group at UBS Financial Services Inc. Mitch is currently pursuing his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation as a Level III candidate.
